Windows on Main Street August 8th - September 12th 2009 in Beacon, NY Ty Marshall is taking the curatorial reigns of "Windows On Main Street", which is entering it's fifth season!
Each year, quality artists are paired with a storefront window in Beacon, NY for a month long installation. The artist picks a window on Main Street and Ty sets up a meeting with the artist and the business owner to establish the parameters for that particular window. For example, a business owner may specify that the artist should:
I encourage any artists who are interested to think outside of the normal medium they tend to use. I am NOT seeking artists to HANG PAINTINGS but to create an entirely new piece for each window. One of the themes here is to create a dialogue between an artist and a business owner, to promote understanding and collaboration, and to promote both the arts and local business.
The project runs from the second Saturday in August to the second Saturday in September 2009.

- leave a certain amount of light coming through
- work around an object that may already be in the window

July 2009 is the installation month
It is going to be hopping this summer in the Hudson Valley because we are celebrating the 400 year anniversary of Henry Hudson sailing up the Hudson and I expect lots of exposure for participating artists.
